Great Falls is #2 in the 2004 Homeownership Production: Neighborhood Housing Services of Great Falls, with its affiliate, the Montana HomeOwnership Network, is one of 154 members of the NeighborWorks Campaign for Home Ownership. The Campaign, launched in January 1993, is the largest initiative of its kind to bring families of modest means into the economic mainstream by helping them achieve one of their primary goals in life: buying a home.

For 2004, Neighborhood Housing Services of Great Falls and the Montana HomeOwnership Network are #2 in the nation for homeownership production, with the creation of 378 homeowners in 2004.

Innovations in HomeOwnership: The Montana HomeOwnership Network, an affiliate of Neighborhood Housing Services of Great Falls was awarded first place in the Innovations in Homeownership Contest conducted by the Campaign for Homeownership, an initiative of Neighborhood Reinvesment, MHN’s national partner. MHN swept First Prize (and $2,000) in the “Best Collaboration to Promote Homeownership” category and was Runner up in the “Best Strategy for Reaching Minority Homebuyers” category. MHN was the only organization to win two awards, which were made during the NeighborWorks Training Institute Symposium on HomeOwnership Education and Counseling, held August 11, 2004 in Washington, DC

Creative Communities: In June of 2004, Neighborhood Housing Services, the City of Great Falls and the Great Falls School District received the “Creative Communities Award” from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, in recognition of an extraordinary effort in creating affordable housing, homeownership opportunities and making the American dream possible by building community partnerships. The award ceremony was made at a recently completed High School House.

HUD Best Practices 2000: The Montana HomeOwnership Network, an affiliate of Neighborhood Housing Services of Great Falls named one of HUD’s Best Practices in the Nation in 2000. The award commended NHS and MHN for working together with the Montana Board of Housing, Rural Housing Services, lenders and local non-profit organizations to create an effective statewide network of homeownership services, including homebuyer education, housing guidance and down payment and closing cost loans.
