Ways and Why to Donate
Why contribute to NeighborWorks
The long-term value of our work has been well-documented. Families who are homeowners are more stable and will have assets 12 times larger than a comparable renting family. Their children will be more likely to graduate from high school, avoid teen-age pregnancy and stay out of the criminal justice system. Essentially, homeownership changes a family forever.
NeighborWorks has made a huge impact on Great Falls since 1980, over 35 years of building strong neighborhoods, creating successful homeowners and promoting quality, affordable housing.
Your donations allows NeighborWorks to help low and moderate income families find more affordable, quality housing for ownership or renting. Once settled in a decent affordable home or apartment, a family or individual has better health outcomes, is more stable and their children do better in school.
Quality rentals lead to the opportunity for homeownership, which builds assets in low and moderate income families.
NeighborWorks builds strong neighborhoods by eliminating blight and decay, rebuilding and building new homes and apartments and training community leaders.
Your charitable contribution to NeighborWorks Great Falls Make A Difference
NeighborWorks Great Falls makes the most of your gift. This year, 138 families became homeowners, because of your support. We have loaned over a million dollars to low-income families, leveraging nearly $100,000,000 in first mortgages -- and our default rate is less than 1%.
An endowment creates an income stream in the future that assures good work can continue, regardless of the variations of Federal and foundation funding. Certain charitable donations will qualify for the Montana endowment income tax credit and can be made in a variety of forms. All contributions quality for the Federal and State charitable income tax deduction. The endowment helps create a savings account that can be used to fill gaps when funding is sparse. In our Matched Savings Account (IDA) program, we match participants savings 3:1, which means they can save up to $1,000 and receive a match of $3,000. This gives them a total of $4,000 for down payment and closing cost assistance on a new home! The program helps establish savings and budgeting habits in preparation for homeownership and helps the participant form a relationship with a lending institution.
